Teaching and Learning Wow, how exciting! I think this is an extraordinary method which can empower my expression in the world. Difficult concepts clearly and practically passed on. (Montreal 2005) To feel what I've known is greatly appreciated and then to begin to find a way to precisely convey my understanding is so exciting - I feel so connected - thank you for your generous sharing of yourself. (Brisbane Australia 2006) Amazing how the vitality effect of my pre-verbal knowing gets more shape and words and freedom. (The Netherlands 2004) I decided to use the TAE process recently with a group who were trying to, re-articulate what their idea of their Centre was in the light of some new developments in their area of work. I used the initial steps with them, adapting them to the needs of the situation, and it worked really well. Asking people to say about key words, 'what would you like " .......' to mean, really gets people going and you can go deep and wide with just that. (Mary Jennings, Ireland) Thank you so much for your help with my project! I really appreciated your listening with such focus and interest, and also your insisting on fresh language! It really helped me to break through to a whole new experience... and helped the whole process come alive for me ...I am still smiling. (Garrison N.Y. USA 2004) I've been wanting to write to let you all know what an invigorating and inspiring day I expereinced a few weeks ago at the one day "Introduction to TAE" presented by Nada Lou in Los Angeles. While I've been slowly absorbing TAE through study with Nada Lou during the past few years, I was really impressed by how much Nada was able to impart to folks who were new to this method of using "Thinking with Focusing." Nada's has truly integrated this ability for herself and with her teaching expertise, has been continually discovering ways to make Thinking at the Edge more easily accessible to newcomers. I'm certain Nada would come to teach where you live, if any of you are interested in gathering a group of 10 or more folks who already know Focusing. (California USA 2004) From you I have a clear example of how 1 individual can bring specific gifts to a project. Thank you for the insights, pathways, methodologies, and focuses you bring to TAE teaching. Thank you for the production company through which I can bring Focusing workshops to my living room again and again. (Participant TAE FISS 2006, NY USA) You are for me "piece of sky". Thanks for help me to find a new experiences into myself. I want to go more deeper in me and to reach a new horisons for my works and my "vocation" (Chile 2006) Your teaching made shine so many faces - including mine - (The Netherlands 2004) Well, it's nice to tell you a little bit how things went further for me after your workshop. I was intrigued and excited after having attended that TAE weekend. I bought the dvd's on TAE from you, put them on audio and spent the next 3, 4 months listening to all that is revealed on these recordings, at first totally puzzeled, but understanding more as time went by. Finally, I concluded the excitement had grown to an extent that I knew I had to proceed in getting to know this adventurous way of working. I would be delighted to discuss with you in much more detail about my discoveries and applications of TAE but will leave it like this for this moment. And most of all: thank you very much for providing the initial inspireation and courage to let myself be contaged by this wonderful process of awakening what is most fruitful in us. Thanks! (Frans G.A. Sandbergen The Netherlands) I couldn't have been happier with Nada's instruction. She is so warm, so patient, so focused, and so very quick to pick up the essentials of what each of us were working on in our own process. Her timing and clarity were exceptional. I felt as though I were in the presence of a highly skilled professor who could flip back and forth between right and left brain thinking. Her excitement for each of our unique formulations and her guidance towards helping us elucidate the as yet unknown knowing, is keeping my own inner process alive as I await completion of our learning together.(Toronto 2004) It was wonderful to notice that words did unfold! I did like the workshop very much. It has given me the idea that what I'm thinking and knowing about spirituality matters and that it does make sense that I give words to all that. (Greetje Stienstra, The Netherlands 2004) I never saw myself as much of a thinker. I didn't seem to think as quickly and as clearly as others. Through the TAE I began to realize what seemed to be a limitation has proven quite the opposite. When I was able to hear Nada Lou speak from her felt sense of her TAE experience I suddenly got it. TAE became real for me in a way that reading about it didn't. (Kevin Mc Evenue, Toronto, TFI Coordinator and creator of Wholebody Focusing) Nada's workshops on TAE are to be recommended, for sure! In September we had two of them, with respectively 17 and 16 participants. It was hard working, and fun, and much more. Of course we didn't 'do' all the steps. But to me it was quite a something that some crossing happened, and that it just happened - one cannot make it happening! That was quite a relief as well. It made the whole thing (as far as I got it) more natural, more familiar, something one already knows, in a way - like one 'knows' Focusing before actually learning it. It can start integrating into one's life before one masters all of it. And that's stimulating! (The Netherlands 2004) I liked Nada's clearly structured way of teaching and her quiet presence. Like a good midwife she knows how to help something that is alive inside a person to come out into the world. Quite some participants are looking forward to a further exploration! |
Resources Nada's book (Grassroots Introduction to TAE Manual) was completed while she was here. (The Netherlands). A big compliment for it's clearness, especially in it's examples! I wish such a workshop to everyone who wants a try with TAE! We were lucky enough to have the newly published Grassroots Manual to guide our learning - as well as Nada's personal and beautifully structured teaching of TAE. All seven of us came away excited that the weekend had brought each of us something new and something of value. (Reva Bernstein,FI Coordinator California USA) I've been looking at (DVDs Thinking Freshly from Experiencing) for a few hours and you've done a really nice job laying it out, giving your statements of the crux of each statement, and the interviews are priceless. This one is more lucid that the TAE DVD 14 steps. I have watched half of the first dvd (Thinking Freshly from Experiencing) that has to do with Gene and the implicit. Although I have no experience with TAE at all, I absolutely LOVE the video. It is wonderful to watch Gene be himself with his own process. Your commentary is excellent! I love the music and I also love the scenes that transition one scene to the next. I especially like that scene where you walk down to the water's edge and then how to turn around. Lastly, I also like how in your commentaries, you go from one statement to the next. You are truly a video professional! Nada. I look forward to watching this again and again and again! I recently received Nada Lou's new DVD, describing Gene Gendlin's Philosophy of the Implicit and Thinking at the Edge. I am only half way through the presentation but I wanted to write to let people know what an accomplishment this is! The DVD shows an organic and spontaneous presentation by Gene in front of a classroom of participants, alternating with summary text and clarifying asides by Nada, who is acknowledged to be a leading presenter of TAE. This is turning out to be a very helpful companion to the previous Thinking at the Edge in 14 Steps. I'd recommend Thinking Freshly from Experiencing for anyone interested in learning about TAE within the context of Gene's broader thinking. Thank you Nada! (Greg Greg Madison TFI Coordinator) I am digesting TAE one step at a time, and am absolutely thrilled. On the one hand, it's as if Dr. Gendlin has distilled my own implicit discovery process and made it explicit, and that is incredibly validating. On the other hand, this explication opens up such an array of connections and questions back and forth with my own work that I am beside myself with excitement. Another thought: you do great work. I think you have created a very accessible video. Just wanted to say thank you for making this available. (U.K.) I have been interested in TAE for some years, but have felt the 14 steps process a bit intimidating. Along comes Nada's TAE Grassroots Manual and not only is the fog beginning to clear but there is light at the end of the tunnel!!! (I may need to work on getting fresh language here!). While keeping faithful to the TAE steps as developed by Gendlin, Nada explains the process in clear terms and models each steps along the way; the modeling is particularly useful. Also the summary of the steps as she outlines them in tabular form is really helpful. This is a great addition to anyone who wants to use the TAE process - or just parts of the process in lots of ways. . I just had the pleasure of seeing Nada Lou's new DVD, Thinking Freshly from Experiencing, and want to tell the world about it! It is excellent, on many levels. The video shows Gene teaching a Thinking at the Edge workshop in Garrison NY, with Nada assisting. Gene is at his best, and Nada supports him with explanations of the more difficult points. This is the best introduction to TAE that I know of, short of going to a workshop with Gene or Nada. It is also a good entry into the Philosophy of the Implicit, because you can see/feel the philosophy in action. And all of this is presented with original music and beautiful cinematography. I wonder if others have seen this, and if so, were you as impressed as I am? (Rob Parker US) |
